Thiamine lactate clearance
WebThere is scant prior literature on the effect of thiamine on V. o 2, but in a dog model of septic shock, Lindenbaum and colleagues demonstrated that thiamine improved lactate clearance, mean arterial pressure, and V. o 2, regardless of whether thiamine deficiency was present . WebUnder most circumstances, lactate is rapidly cleared by the liver, where it is reconverted into glucose by the processes of gluconeogenesis. A smaller amount of additional lactate is cleared by the kidneys. Notably, lactate is oxidized with NAD+ within the mitochondria by the enzyme lactate dehydrogenase to produce pyruvate and NADH.
